Nick Rolls came in contact with darts through his brother who playes county darts for Berkshire. Nick always said he was good at counting. When one day in 2005 the regular caller didn't show up, Nick's brother put him on the spot and said it was time to put his money where his mouth was. He climbed up on the stage and that started his career. He made his televised debut on the 17th of November 2007 during the Winmau World Masters and on his first day he got the John Walton nine darter to call. With this he is the referee who has had to wait the shortest time do do one.
